riding through the city on
his nightmarish steed
The Black Knight
sends chills of fear
in waves to crash
across any who see him.
the stain of blood
the stench of a charnel house
the skulls of his enemies
dangle from his belt
on tarnished silver chains
he dismounts, and the
peasants and worksmen
cower against walls,
into alleys,
covering their children's eyes
except for one peasant
with a blindfold over his
eyes. He flails nervously
his support vanished in the
cloud of fear
the Knight approaches the
blind man, and without a
word, gently helps the beggar find a seat
and no one is brave enough
to see
that no man is soulless.
